Submission Guidelines
To be considered for the 2027 issue of Y Writing, projects must have been composed by a human student enrolled in a W150 class during the 2026 calendar year. The submission deadline is January 15, 2027.
**All submissions must be nominated and submitted by faculty. Students should not submit their essays directly.**
Faculty may nominate up to two student projects per category (Powerful Prose, Inquiry, Argument, Inquiry and Argument, and Multimodal) per semester.
All winning submissions will be asked to write an AI disclosure communicating their use of artificial intelligence or large-language models in regards to their project.
In addition to being considered for publication, each submission will be automatically considered for the “Y Writing Award” in the category in which it is entered. Y Writing Awards are given to exceptional essays in each category and come with a cash prize.
Reminders:
- All submissions must be from faculty. Students should not submit their essays directly.
- Submissions should be from a W150 class taught in 2026.
- Faculty may nominate up to two student projects per category per semester.
